Charcuterie Rainbow

In a busy season, I want to spend my weekends sitting on the back deck with a copy of HGTV or Food Network Magazine. However, I am reminding myself to keep my schedule and door open for my teenage kids' plans and friends. Since friendships are essential to kids at that age, I know it's also crucial for parents to be supportive- after all, my mom never turned down a friend coming over, and we never just brought one!
In light of this, I threw a date on the calendar and told my girls they could have friends over for a bonfire. Though my mom rarely had a heads up, she always had food ready. She was particularly known for her nachos and chocolate chip cookies. Even though I grew up with two older brothers who ate everything in sight, I have learned that feeding girls is different- and often can be more fun! From tea parties to food rainbows, there is always something fun to create when it comes to menu crafting.
I had been wanting to create a food rainbow since we made a flower rainbow in the driveway years ago, and I finally took to Pinterest and accomplished it. I tried to keep it small to avoid waste, but I got carried away quickly and ended up with quite the spread, so keep that in mind when it's time to make your own!
This blog post is pretty straightforward - I'll include pictures of what I made, along with a list of food ideas for each color group in a variety of seasons, so that you can create your own rainbow any time of the year! Outside of fruits and vegetables, you can choose to include more unique charcuterie additions like pickled or dried items, meats, cheeses, and more. If it suits your crowd, consider incorporating sweet items that come in rainbow colors, such as Skittles, Starbursts, and gummy bears. To make a cloud, arrange a collection of small bowls and fill them with mini marshmallows. For a pot of gold, use a bowl or cast-iron dish and fill it with gold-wrapped candies, such as Rolos, Lindt chocolates, or chocolate gold coins.

I hope you have a blast creating this spread and even more fun deciding what to eat first. Happy creating!
